Who Represents Texas' Active Military Communities?

How to use this for bill development

• By Legislator identifies each current House and Senate member's closest active-installation connection and district-wide military context.
• By Active Installation groups the legislators whose district ZIP relationships connect to the same installation within 50 miles. That view is intended to help identify potential authors, joint authors, coauthors and cross-chamber sponsors.
• Geographic connection does not itself determine who should lead a bill. Committee jurisdiction, legislative history, local installation priorities and member interest should be layered on top.
• House 89R committee portfolios appear when the governed House committee-history source is locally available. Senate committee portfolios are not asserted by this build.
• Current House/Senate names come from the governed repaired 181-member roster; the Accountability roster is used only as secondary enrichment where available.

Methodology

• "Active/operational" follows the governed military source classification; it does not mean active-duty population.
• Distance is measured from governed ZIP coordinates to installation footprints.
• District-wide measures use normalized ZIP boundary-overlap weights. They are not population-weighted constituent estimates.
• The active ≤10-mile overlap percentage is geographic context, not a share of residents.
• Non-spatial postal ZIPs remain unassessed rather than receiving false zero values.
• No ranking, score, percentile or best/worst designation is created.
